Music Theory

I offer tuition in Music Theory from Preliminary to Grade 8 of the London College of Music.  This is available either as a single subject, where the whole lesson is devoted to Theory, or in conjunction with the study of the piano or flute, where Theory forms part of the instrumental lesson.

The study of Music Theory is advisable for instrumental students wishing to take a performance examination at Grade 6 or above.

A knowledge of the theory of music contributes to a fuller understanding, and therefore better performance, of instrumental pieces and it is a core element of GCSE, AS and A2 Music.

Music Theory exams take place at the Spring, Summer and Winter examination sessions of the London College of Music.  For students applying for University entrance, Music Theory qualifications attract between 5 and 30 UCAS points for Grades 6 - 8 depending on the standard achieved.

Lessons are available as 30-minute, 45-minute or 1-hour sessions, depending on the level of study, on a weekly basis, and online tuition may be possible if this is more convenient.
