Flute tuition is available for students aged 7 years and above, at all levels from beginners to Grade 8.
Beginners follow a series of lesson books and will learn tone, fingering, essential music theory, and sight-reading, building up a repertoire of pieces to play for their own enjoyment and that of family and friends.
When the student is ready s/he will be offered the opportunity of taking the London College of Music flute exams at Steps 1 and Step 2, then progressing to Grades 1 - 8 (a qualification at Grade 5 in Music Theory advisable for higher grades - see Music Theory).
Students with prior knowledge of the instrument can be entered for the appropriate Grade exam for their level, or may choose to improve their technique and performance without sitting exams.
Lessons are available as 30-minute, 45-minute, or 1-hour sessions, depending on the level of study, on a weekly basis.
